Did you know the soil that you use will greatly impact the health of your plants? Certain plants need certain types of soil for their draining abilities, water retention levels, and beneficial nutrients. Our native Texas soils often lack the vital ingredients that our plants need to thrive. When you plant with quality garden soil, you are creating the proper environment for a vibrant and happy garden!

3 IMPORTANT BENEFITS OF PLANTING WITH QUALITY GARDEN SOIL

  1. BENEFICIAL NUTRIENTS

Rich soil contains beneficial ingredients that our native soils can lack. Choose a soil that is full of organic matter and minerals which are essential to keeping your plants healthy. These nutrients help fuel plant growth.

  1. MOISTURE CONTROL

Maintaining the proper moisture levels will keep your plants thriving. Each plant has different water requirements, and it is important to use the best soil that fits those needs. Our native soils can be full of heavy clay particles which retains too much moisture, or our Texas soils can be too sandy which creates conditions that are too dry. Choosing a quality garden soil will provide will retain the moisture levels and drainage that your plants need.

  1. AERATION & SOIL STRUCTURE

Just like us, our plant’s roots also need oxygen to survive. This is possible through the proper soil structure. Wet or dense soil can hinder root growth, while overly aerated soils lack the support that the roots need to establish growth. This can make your plants easily uprooted. Quality garden soil will provide a space that has good aeration and a sufficient soil structure for your plants.
