Thrift2U - How it Works (2024)

Is Everything Really One Dollar?

Yes, Everything is really one dollar. We do charge S&H though. Let us Explain!

So we use a Point Sytem to charge S&H & basically it works like this...

Every category (Shoes, Jackets, Shirts...) is assigned a point value, short sleeve shirts for example are 3 points & Jackets are 10 points.

You only pay S&H ONCE per ENTIRE order for the amount of points you use, then you pay $1.00 for each item.

Rates start at $7.99 for 1-2 Points & go up. As you order more you will realize it is a really good deal for example 40-50 Points is $18.99 25x more points for less than 3x the S&H cost of 1-2 points. Lets say you want a lot of stuff.. 500 points is $64.95 to put this into perspective for you, you could get 165 shirts & only pay $64.95 in S&H.

Thrift2U - How it Works (2024)

FAQs

How does thrifting work? ›

Simply put, thrifting means to go shopping at a thrift store, garage sale, or flea market where you'll find gently used items at discounted prices. Thrifted items have been loved by a previous owner, but are usually in good shape with enough life left to be useful to a new owner.

How to thrift and make money? ›

In the simplest terms, the strategy behind thrift store flipping is to find items you know you can resell for a higher price. The goal is to find an item at a thrift store and then sell it on an online platform like eBay or Facebook Marketplace at a decent markup that makes this a worthwhile side hustle venture.

Do thrift stores make a lot of money? ›

According to a study by the National Association of Resale and Thrift Shops (NARTS), the average thrift store in the United States earns about $300,000 in revenue per year, with profits ranging from 3-4% of total sales.

Do I have to wash clothes after thrifting? ›

Most secondhand stores don't wash the clothes before selling them. Donations are typically washed before they're donated, but we still recommend giving them a good cleaning when you get home. Even if the clothes are washed before they hit the thrift store floor, people will have since touched them.

What not to do when thrifting? ›

Expert thrift-shoppers told Insider the common mistakes people make when buying secondhand clothes. Thrifters shouldn't skip over items that need to be tailored — unless they're stained or ripped. Thrifting exclusively on weekends also isn't the best option, experts said.

What is the best day to go thrifting? ›

While there's no “perfect” day to shop second hand stores, many regulars swear by shopping early on Monday and Tuesday. Homeowners tend to drop off garage sale leftovers on Sunday nights, making for new finds. Plus, the weekends are more crowded shopping days, so employees look to restock early in the week.

What to wear while thrifting? ›

Wearing athleisure, such as leggings and a tank top, make it easy to flow through the aisles while browsing. This attire also makes it easy to try on sweaters, jackets, dresses, and skirts to try on over my clothes. This also assisted with unnecessary returns for items that don't fit correctly.

Do you get paid for thrifting? ›

It's not uncommon to find thrift store flippers making close to $100k every year from thrift store flipping. It, however, still depends on how much you put in. If you're willing to put in enough time to learn about flipping and carefully research the items to sell, you can make a comfortable living.

What is thrift flipping? ›

She writes descriptions like, “never worn” or “worn once,” and adds a price to each garment. Harpster, like many other young people around the country, has found a novel way to make a quick buck—by “thrift flipping,” or in other words, buying secondhand clothing cheap and reselling for a higher price.

Do rich people buy from thrift stores? ›

Wealthier people have begun to frequent thrift stores, shopping for the same items as low-income people who were the original customers of the secondhand shops. In addition to wearing the clothes themselves, many thrifters in recent years have also started reselling the clothing on websites like Depop at a higher rate.

Why are thrift stores so expensive? ›

Thrift stores have everything donated to them. Resellers are taking the time to sift through racks of clothing to create a curated collection of items, which they then purchase. Although it may seem unethical, this is what fast fashion companies often do- purchase from manufacturers to then sell at a higher price.

Do thrift stores clean clothes before selling? ›

Every thrift store has a different donation and cleaning policy. Some chains have stricter guidelines than others but in general, you'll find that most in-person consignment shops do not wash their garments. However, most stores do at least sort through their donations and weed out the soiled and unsellable items.

Is thrifting really cheaper? ›

Save Money

The clothes that you acquire at a thrift store are much cheaper than when they're brand-new with tags. Some items in the thrift store may even have tags on them, signifying that they've never been worn.

Is it ethical to go thrifting? ›

As a consumer at thrift stores, many of us have begun to question if indirectly buying from these companies is considered ethical or not. The reality is that buying second-hand fast fashion items does quite little to curb the harms of the exploitative and wasteful industry.
